Scholarship Guidelines

The Servus Amoris Foundation establishes the following guidelines to provide a clear and consistent framework for its educational support program. These guidelines ensure transparency, mission-alignment, and accountability in the administration of scholarships and grants offered by the Foundation.

I Introduction

The Scholarship Guidelines of SERVUS AMORIS FOUNDATION INC. provide a clear and consistent framework for the implementation of the foundation's educational support program. These guidelines aim to ensure transparency, mission-alignment, and accountability in supporting individuals who are called to serve in the helping professions and pastoral ministries.

II Objectives

  • To offer financial assistance to students pursuing studies in psychology, social work, theology, social work, spirituality, pastoral ministry, and related fields.
  • To nurture servant-leaders who are committed to healing, accompaniment, and transformation.
  • To empower future Missionary Disciples of Hope and other vocations aligned with the foundation's mission.

III Types of Scholarships

  • Academic Scholarship – For undergraduate, graduate, or vocational/technical education.
  • Formation Scholarship – For individuals in pastoral, theological, or spiritual formation programs.
  • Continuing Education Grant – For short courses, certifications, or specialized trainings.
  • Mission Service Grant – For scholars participating in mission-based or apostolic work.

IV Eligibility

To qualify, applicants must:

  • Be currently enrolled or accepted in an accredited institution.
  • Show commitment to a helping or pastoral vocation.
  • Demonstrate financial need.
  • Exhibit good moral character and alignment with the foundation's values.
  • Endorsed by the Local Ordinary or Superior.

V Application Procedure

  1. Call for Applications — Posted on official channels and partner networks.
  2. Submission of Requirements
    • Completed Application Form
    • Letter of Intent
    • Endorsement letter from a Church or academic mentor
    • Academic records
    • Proof of enrollment
    • Family income documents
  3. Screening and Interview — Conducted by the Scholarship Committee.
  4. Deliberation and Decision
    • Recommendations submitted to the Executive Director
    • Final approval and notification to applicants

VI Terms and Conditions

A. Benefits

Coverage may include tuition, stipends, book allowance, or travel allowance, depending on availability of funds and type of scholarship.

B. Responsibilities of Scholars

  • Maintain good academic standing
  • Submit progress reports and grades
  • Participate in formation sessions and foundation activities
  • Abide by the Code of Conduct

C. Return Service Commitment

Scholars are expected to render volunteer service or mission support equivalent to the assistance received, typically for at least one year post-graduation.

D. Grounds for Termination

  • Academic failure
  • Misconduct or breach of agreement
  • Withdrawal without notice
  • Falsification of documents
  • Change of academic course or school
  • Multiple scholarships

VII Monitoring and Support

  • Scholars will receive support from an assigned mentor or staff coordinator.
  • Regular updates, check-ins, and formation opportunities will be provided.
  • Scholars are part of the Servus Amoris Scholars Circle for community-building and faith formation.

VIII Documentation and Records

  • Each scholar shall have a secured file with application documents, reports, and agreement forms.
  • Records will be maintained both physically and digitally.

IX Renewal Process

Scholarships are renewable annually upon:

  • Submission of updated academic records
  • Confirmation of continued need and mission alignment
  • Participation in required activities and fulfillment of prior commitments

X Funding and Sponsorship

  • Funded by donations, endowment, and grants.
  • Donors may sponsor scholars and receive periodic updates.

XI Review and Updates

  • These guidelines will be reviewed every two years.
  • Revisions must be approved by the Executive Director and the Board of Trustees.
